Barrie Masters (Eddie and the Hotrods) – Formed in Essex in 1975, The Rods were first classed as a ‘Pub Rock’ outfit but became icons to the punk movement. They gave the Sex Pistols their first ever London gig playing as support at the Marquee Club. Their big moment came in 1977 with their biggest hit ‘Do Anything You Wanna Do’ which broke into the top 10. It carried them on a tour of the United States with The Ramones and Talking Heads. Joe Strummer of the Clash said the first time he ever saw the word ‘punk’ in relation to music it was in a description of ‘Eddie and the Hotrods’.
