English pioneers of pub rock. Pub rock was an early 1970’s reaction to the excesses of glam rock and overly produced studio albums of the late 60’s and early 70’s. It was a stripped down rock music that rejected lavish arenas and instead embraced the sweaty intimacy of small gigs. Dr Feelgood formed in Canvey Island England in 1971 – they epitomised the high energy British R&B sound that would lead directly into the punk rock revolution of the mid 1970’s. They were relentless live performers and finally broke into the charts when their 1976 live album ‘Stupidity’ reached number 1 in the charts. Their biggest hit single was the exceptional ‘Milk and Alcohol’
