Brooks is the biggest selling solo artist in US history which may come as a shock to Michael Jackson and Elvis Presley fans. He has sold over 148 million records. He started as a fan of rock but it was his fusion of rock, pop, and country which launched him to success. His first album ‘Garth Brooks’ was a hit – and he has never stopped since. He was signed to be main support on a Kenny Rodgers tour which helped lift his second album ‘No Fences’ to number 1. He was born Troyal Garth Brooks and now says “eating and napping are my favourite hobbies”. He also said he now only picks up a guitar “to hide my gut”.
