George Harrison
George Harrison was two and a half years younger than John Lennon. He met Paul on a school bus, and the two bonded over music and playing guitar. John was not so sure. George joined ‘The Quarrymen’ aged 15 after Paul found he was too nervous to handle guitar solos onstage – so George got the gig and the rest is history.
Ringo Starr
Richard Starkey was an established drummer on the Merseybeat scene. He got his break when the band did their first recording session with George Martin at Abbey Road studios. Martin told them they needed a better drummer if they were serious about making it. They were serious, so they sacked Pete Best and hired Ringo. Ringo failed to impress Martin at first as well, only being allowed to play tambourine on his first sessions.
