English rock band Thunder was formed from the ashes of the band Terraplane, who disbanded after their record company forced them to change direction from rock to rock/soul, alienating many of the fans they had earned with their hit debut release ‘Black and White’. Danny Bowes and Luke Morley had known each other since they were 11 so they decided Thunder would be focused on rock, and their early singles ‘Dirty Love’ and ‘Love Walked In’ were Billboard hits. Remarkably their first album ‘Backstreet Symphony’ was produced by Duran Duran’s Andy Taylor. Thunder supported Whitesnake and Iron Maiden to build fan recognition and it worked as their second album ‘ Laughing on Judgement Day’ was a hit, reaching number 2 in the album charts. Kerrang, Raw and Metal Hammer, the three leading UK rock magazines at the time voted Thunder the “Best New Band Of The Year” In June 1995, the band won the Kerrang! Award for Best British Live Act. They are still together and planning to tour in 2021.
